Finally, The much awaited Windows 7 Release Candidate is out for Public. And unlike the mayhem during the beta version download , you don’t need to rush to get the Release Candidate this time, it will be available for download till July 2009. Also there is no limit on the product keys.

Some things to note before downloading it :

1. The RC will expire on June 1, 2010. But, starting from March 1, 2010, your PC will start shutting down every 2 hours. Don’t worry, Windows will notify you 2 weeks before the bi-hourly shutdowns start. To avoid this bi hourly shutdowns, you will have to install a non-expired version of Windows before March 1, 2010.

2. Don’t forget to back up your data and as far as possible, please don’t test the RC on your primary home or business PC.

3.  You can read the Release Notes and Things to Know for important information about Windows 7 RC Release.

4. Don’t forget to turn on Automatic updates in Windows Update in case Microsoft publishes updates for the RC.

5. You can install the Windows 7 RC on a Windows Vista PC without any backup but do make a backup for safety sake. For a Windows XP/Windows 7 Beta PC , you will have to backup your data, then do a clean installation of the RC, and then reinstall your applications and restore your data.

The minimum system requirements for running Windows 7 RC are:

-> 1 GHz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
-> 1 GB RAM (32-bit) / 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
-> 16 GB available disk space (32-bit) / 20 GB (64-bit)
-> DirectX 9 graphics processor with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver

Windows 7 RC is available in 2 versions, 32 bit and 64 bit versions. So you can choose whichever version suits your PC/Laptop.
