A British travel company has just set a record by paying £560,000 ($1.1 million) for just obtaining the domain name cruises.co.uk, which is just a letter different from their domain address cruise.co.uk.

                                      Cruises

The company shattered the previous record holder of $300,000, for a .co.uk domain paid in October last year. Seamus Conlon, the company chairman said that "It was a necessary move to retain dominance in the rapidly growing market for ocean cruising."

It may be noted that "’Cruises’ is currently is one of the top keywords on Google.

"We wanted the top positions so that when Internet users are searching for deals… we are the first port of call." adds Seamus Conlon.
