Its been clear that people hate IE6 with the lots and lots of campaigns that have been launched on the internet. However, lots of people are still stuck using IE6 for reasons beyond their control such as not able to upgrade, no admin rights etc. Therefore, to combat this problem, Google has now launched Chrome Frame.

So What’s a Chrome Frame?

Chrome Frame is a new browser plug-in developed by Google for IE to replicate the Chrome browsing experience within any version of Internet Explorer.

So How does this Chrome Frame work?

Chrome Frame is basically, just a plug-in that creates a new frame of Chrome browser inside IE . The plug-in is very lightweight (~ 500K), but before using Chrome within IE, Â it needs to download some Chrome-related data (~10 MB) to work seamlessly on the machine.

Currently, Chrome Frame supports IE6, IE7, and IE8 on any Windows Powered PC.

Check Your BSNL Broadband Usage Via SMS

If you are an user of BSNL Broadband and are not on any one of the unlimited plans, then you must keeping tabs on the data usage you have done. But what if you are on the move and not able to access the internet to check the data usage?

Simple, Send an SMS.

Yes, BSNL has now introduced a new feature where in you can now know your broadband usage via SMS.

How to Register for this New Feature?

Just SMS “REG Landline Number” prefixed with your STD code (For Example REG 080 23456789) to the following numbers:

52295: For Bsnl Mobile Customers.

9448077777: For Any Other Mobile Customers other than BSNL.

After Registering your landline number, you will receive a Thank you message and from then onwards, you can check the broadband usage of your account anytime by just sending an SMS.

How to Check the Broadband Usage of My Account?

Just SMS “BBU Landline Number” prefixed with the STD Code (EG BBU 080 23456789) to the following numbers:

52295: For Bsnl Mobile Customers.

9448077777: For Any Other Mobile Customers other than BSNL.

Note: This service is completely free, and you will be charged only for the SMS, based on your operatorÂ sms charges.

How to Replace Google’s Logo with your Favourite Doodle on Google’s Search Page

If you love Google’s Doodles which is used by Google to commemorate important events and holidays, a good news news for you. Tiffany Lane, A Google employee, has created a Greasemonkey script through which you can now replace Standard Google’s logo in the homepage with your favorite doodle from this list.

Currently, however the script will override your favorite doodle on holidays or any days with a special doodle by default and after that holiday is over, your favorite doodle will be back. But you can change the script such that your favorite doodle is always shown.

This script is compatible with only the Greasemonkey extension installed version of Firefox.

Want to show off your latest tweet as image signature in forums/blogs/email? Then simply head over to twitsig.com.

Once you enter your Twitter handle/name on their website, you will be given an image with your latest tweet along with its embed code.

This can then be used as a signature in various forums, blogs or any HTML page by simply pasting the appropriate code.

Make Twitter Look like an Excel Window

Donâ€™t want to get caught using Twitter at work? Do not worry, Spread Tweet is to your rescue.

SpreadTweet is an AIR based Twitter Client from @elliottkember which camouflages your timeline as a Excel workbook. There are 3 different versions of the client that mimics Office OSX (for Macâ€™s), Office 2003 and Office 2007 (for Windows) respectively.

Once Installed, it will ask for your Twitter Credentials, and load a spreadsheet with the latest tweets from your timeline in plain text. It also auto refreshes your timeline every now and then and If you click on any link, it will directly open the link in your default browser.

Is it legal, you ask? Well, according to @elliottkember, once you download this software, he is absolved of any and all responsibility and you should send him cookies and beer

SevenUp is a nice and nifty project through which you can help the world by trying to get rid of IE6.

It is a small 1k Javascript that displays a gentle CSS lightbox to encourage people who visit your site using IE6 or lower that they should consider upgrading their outdated browser. The script also includes an upgrade link to the newer version and also an option to dismiss the reminder and never bother again. The users of other browsers will be completely unaffected and will have no clue about the script present.

Hats Off to @staringpolite who has created this nice little javascript. So do your part and save your less techie friends from the evils of IE6.

The process is very simple.

Go to www.tumblephone.com

Enter your tumblr name

and voila!!! The iPhone compatible version of your site comes up.

You can also add a link in your tumblr for direct access.

Just add www.tumblephone.com/ in your tumblr theme and it will directly lead you to the iPhone optimized version of your tumbleblog. For example tumblephone.com/vikasmurthy will lead to the iPhone version of my Tumbleblog.

How to send Empty Body E-mails on Gmail

I often send e-mails where my entire message fits in the subject and there is no need for the body, but when I try to send these type of e-mails I get a pop-up saying “Send this message without text in the body”.

However Gmail Team has come up with an solution to this problem in their blog.

Now you just have to add “EOM” or “(EOM)” at the end of the subject line and Gmail will promptly send the message without the unnecessary Pop-up.
